We are seeking an experienced, passionate and customer/staff focused Retail GM to manage the company’s Westfield dispensary operations. Requiring an extremely strong focus on customer service and compliance, the Retail GM will train and lead a team of Cannabis Consultants to deliver a unique, high-quality customer experience. The Retail GM sets the tone for the day, maintains the culture of the business, protects our brand, inspires our employees and shows compassion for our patients/customers. The Dispensary GM is accountable for managing sales performance and identifying sales opportunities, helps in developing overall store strategies and tactics to achieve sales, service, and performance goals. He/She oversees day-to-day operations of their dispensary location. This includes managing staff at the dispensary location, ensuring successful compliant operations and high-level customer service. The store GM is responsible for the staffing schedule making sure the dispensary is properly staffed always.

The Dispensary GM reports directly to the Director of Retail Operations. The Dispensary GM is responsible for overseeing operations of their dispensary including but not limited to retail sales, inventory management, product intake, education, onboarding of sales associates, new product ideas. This position requires high-level of communication skills, as this person will communicate with both upper level management and dispensary staff and may act as a spokesperson for the Director of Retail Operations to employees. This position is responsible for dispensary employees’ strict adherence to laws and regulations concerning medical and adult-use cannabis put forth by the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all store opening and closing procedures.
  • Responsible for all cash handling within the dispensary and scheduling daily deposits with Director of Security.
  • Responsible for fiscal management of payroll, office supplies, product expiration, and product ordering with The Director of Retail Operations.
  • Recruits, trains and retains the highest quality candidates per Heka standards in collaboration with Director of Retail Operations.
  • Provides constructive feedback to help employees meet expectations and goals.
  • Leads, motivates, and inspires the store team. Coaches employees to create a customer-centric environment resulting in a memorable and positive customer experience.
  • Oversees new employee mentoring program to ensure success of incoming Cannabis Consultants in the store.
  • Builds and increases customer retention, foster strong relationships, and develop brand awareness and loyalty.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service by observing, listening, interacting, and following-up with customers to ensure satisfaction. Works proactively to solve customer complaints.
  • Maintains outstanding store condition and Heka visual merchandising standards.
  • Has accountability over and tracks performance of all retail employees.
  • Participates in networking and community outreach to create positive relationships within the community.
  • Responsible for management and maintenance of Store inventory.
  • Accountable for ensuring store follows all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to the following: inventory reporting, employee reporting, patient reporting, METRC reporting.
  • Makes sure all operations carried out in the dispensary follow the regulations set forth by the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment for all employees and customers, which include sales floor, back room, manager offices, and restrooms.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling for maximum effectiveness and efficiency for business operations.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-years’ experience in a leadership role. Management, communication, and training skills in a customer service centric retail environment.
  • Cannabis retail management experience a plus.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a team of 30 plus employees.
  • Advanced skills in the MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to lead, delegate, and motivate staff.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of Medical and/or Adult-use cannabis retail operations a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Leaf Logix/METRC a plus.
  • Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal Laws and Regulations pertaining to Massachusetts Medical and/or Adult-Use Cannabis
  • Demonstrates passion to serving the Medical and Adult-Use Cannabis community
  • Must be able to obtain Massachusetts Agent Card.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical aptitude and health necessary to perform manual labor tasks required for proper location management.
  • Ability to perform the following physical tasks: sitting, standing, stooping, stretching, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, performing repetitive motions, and carrying boxes.
