In ancient Egypt, medical prescriptions and antidotes were discovered utilizing cannabis and were transcribed in Ebers Papyrus, one of the oldest preserved medical documents, dating back to 1550 BC. Cannabis has held a sacred status in several religions and ceremonial practices and was referenced in Greek Mythology for eliminating pain, anguish and sorrow. There remain many other published examples of cannabis use throughout history.
Our company is branded, based on this journey of cannabis throughout time and specifically the god, HEKA, dating back from ancient Egypt. He was known as the patron of magic and medicine. Although he is not featured by name in the best-known myths, he was regarded by the ancient Egyptians as the power behind all gods that have become synonymous with ancient Egyptian culture. Doctors and healers were often called “Priests of Heka” and often sought his spiritual assistance. The word HEKA, translates to the ancient Egyptian word for magic. We feel “Magic” or “HEKA” accurately describes the properties of this incredible plant. At HEKA Inc. we like to say that it is “a gift from the Gods“.
